Ireland Wedding Venues — A Photographer’s Guide

I’ve photographed weddings at venues across Ireland — from lakeside islands in Fermanagh to country estates in Meath. This page gathers venues I know well, with the things a photographer notices: where the light falls in the afternoon, the best spots for portraits, and when to schedule them.

Every venue below links to a real wedding film I shot there, so you can see exactly how your day could look.

The Johnstown Estate — Enfield, Co. Meath

Set on 120 acres of parkland overlooking the River Blackwater, The Johnstown Estate dates back to the 1750s and has stunning grounds for photographs. It’s very well located just outside Enfield — an easy venue for guests travelling from Dublin or the midlands. Here’s Orla & Davy’s wedding film from Johnstown:

Moyvalley Hotel — Co. Kildare

Moyvalley’s estate grounds give huge variety for couple portraits without long drives between locations — a real advantage when the timeline is tight. A wedding film I made at Moyvalley:

Lusty Beg Island — Co. Fermanagh

An island venue on Lough Erne — guests arrive by ferry, and the water and woodland give a completely different look to a typical hotel wedding. Worth planning portraits around the evening light on the lough.

Mulranny Park Hotel — Co. Mayo

Shooting at Mulranny was a highlight for me — the venue sits above Clew Bay with mountains behind, and no two weddings there ever look the same. If you’re marrying in the west, the scenery does half the work for you.

Frequently asked questions

Do you charge travel fees for venues outside Meath and Kildare?

I photograph weddings across all of Ireland. Travel is built into my packages for most venues — get in touch with your venue and I’ll confirm.

Have you shot at our venue before?

Even if your venue isn’t on this page, there’s a good chance I’ve worked there or nearby. Ask me — and if it’s new to me, I’ll visit ahead of the day to plan locations and light.

When should we schedule couple portraits?

Usually 30–45 minutes between the ceremony and reception, plus ten minutes at golden hour if the venue allows. I’ll build this into your timeline so it never feels rushed.
